MIAA is carbon neutral
The Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) is the peak industry body in Australia for the Owners, Managers and Operators of Marinas, Slipways, Boatyards, Berthing, Mooring and other marine Storage Facilities and Sailing and Cruising Boating Clubs.
MIAA Members enjoy direct, national and global connections with both industry and Government organisations.
In May 2008, the MIAA partnered with the Carbon Reduction Institute to launch the Low Carbon Marina Initiative. The Initiative is a national, voluntary certification program for marinas, yacht clubs, boat clubs, slipways and other associated industry operators across Australia. It is designed to support the marina industry’s endeavours to protect our coastal and inland waterways from the threat of climate change. For more information about the Low Carbon Marina Initiative, please visit www.noco2.com.au/marinas.
The MIAA has certified NoCO2 with the Carbon Reduction Institute to set a positive example for the marina industry and lead others in their efforts to become a solution for global warming. This included calculating and reducing all operational and organisational carbon emissions. The MIAA now reports back to the Carbon Reduction Institute every quarter to maintain carbon neutral status.
We congratulate the MIAA for taking this important step for a sustainable future!
